A dual project in the heart of the Caribbean

Princess Hotels & Resorts has taken a firm step forward in its international expansion with this new hotel complex in Jamaica. It is located on one of the most attractive islands in the Caribbean, renowned for its natural beauty, vibrant culture and hospitality. It comprises more than 2,000 rooms, of which the first 1,005 are in the two recently opened resorts.

On the one hand, the Princess Grand Jamaica Hotel is aimed at families and multi-generational guests. With seven themed areas, a comprehensive programme of recreational activities and 590 family suites with access to swimming pools, the complex aims to become a benchmark for those travelling with children and teenagers. Princess Jamaica combines adventure, entertainment and high-quality services in a paradise setting.

On the other hand, the Princess Senses The Mangrove Hotel offers an exclusive concept for adults. Specially designed for couples, small groups and travellers seeking intimacy and sophistication, the resort focuses on sensory immersion, haute cuisine and privacy. It features overwater villas, suites with personalised service and a spa. The hotel, in its ultimate expression of luxury, includes a private island for events.

With this project, the Spanish chain reinforces its position as a benchmark for innovative hospitality in the Caribbean. At the 2025 Porcelanosa Awards, Princess Jamaica Hotels & Resorts received the award for Best International Hotel Project.

Luxury and nature in harmony

The interior design of the new Princess Hotels & Resorts complex in Jamaica seeks to harmonise contemporary luxury and Caribbean nature. The proposal was developed in collaboration with PORCELANOSA Group, which has designed and adapted exclusive pieces for the project. This has given each space a unique identity.

At Princess Senses The Mangrove, the exclusive overwater villas blend into the seascape thanks to floor and wall tiles that convey naturalness and sophistication. In contrast, Hotel Princess Grand Jamaica focuses on communal and family spaces, highlighting the visual continuity of PAR-KER® Vancouver Brown. This wood-effect ceramic model has been used in private areas with swimming pools, terraces and solarium areas.

One of the highlights of the project is the reinterpretation of coral stone adapted to ceramics, named Mangrove. This is an exclusive creation and design by Porcelanosa for Princess Jamaica. Inspired by the marine fossils found in the area, this piece brings character, elegance and authenticity. Its versatility allows it to be used for both flooring and exterior wall cladding, with non-slip finishes that reinforce safety while maintaining the aesthetic appeal.

The richness of textures is complemented by the XLIGHT Paonazzo Biondo Silk wall tile (Porcelanosa), used in the restaurants. For the shared bathrooms, different designs have been created, generating original and sophisticated contrasts. These include the fusion of a model by XTONE, inspired by green onyx, and Samoa Antracita, with a stone effect, by Porcelanosa. Another composition is the Deco Vetri Blu mosaic, with XLIGHT porcelain stoneware with a wood effect. The golden mosaic (L’Antic Colonial) and XLIGHT Orobico Dark Polished blend together perfectly. All this is complemented by natural stone pedestal washbasins from L’Antic Colonial or washbasins from Noken Porcelanosa Bathrooms.

Construction innovation with its own identity

The success of Princess Jamaica is also due to careful architectural planning and construction innovation. To bring this ambitious initiative to life, Princess Hotels & Resorts entrusted Spanish architect Álvaro Sans (ASAH) and Mexican studio Téllez & Téllez. Both studios specialise in hotel design. Their proposal, inspired by naval aesthetics and art deco, creates an architectural language that blends tradition and modernity.

One of the most significant advances was the incorporation of industrialised bathrooms, developed in collaboration with PORCELANOSA Offsite. This system reduced construction times, minimised waste and guaranteed the quality of the finishes, among other advantages. Clad in XLIGHT Calacatta Gold and with flooring from the River Silver collection in a non-slip finish, they stand out for their functionality and elegance. These spaces are completed with Slender washbasins, Round taps and a full range of shower fittings from Noken Porcelanosa Bathrooms.

The Mangrove bathtub was designed as an iconic and exclusive piece for the hotel project, reinforcing the uniqueness of each suite. Butech’s installation materials have served to enhance the aesthetics and visual continuity of Porcelanosa’s ceramic materials, installed in both bathrooms and other spaces.
According to those responsible for the project, the installation of prefabricated bathrooms reduced the construction time by more than six months. This represents a milestone in hotel construction in the Caribbean.

Sustainability and social responsibility at Princess Jamaica

One of the pillars of Princess Hotels & Resorts’ new project in Jamaica is sustainability. The transformation of the coastline and the presence of mangroves made it necessary to design specific protection, regeneration and conservation measures. These include the creation of fish sanctuaries, coral recovery and the preservation of protected algae.

Energy sustainability also played a central role. The complex was designed to operate as independently as possible from external sources. To this end, a gas-fired trigeneration plant and a photovoltaic plant were installed. This provides the facilities with sustainable electricity and air conditioning. It also has a reverse osmosis plant that guarantees access to drinking water. And all this without compromising the island’s natural resources.

At the same time, corporate social responsibility programmes have been promoted with a focus on supporting local communities. The company has collaborated with schools in the area. It is also promoting the nascent tourism industry on Green Island, offering employment and training opportunities.
